Dr. Adsit has traveled to several developing nations to provide dental care to people in need. While on these trips, Dr. Adsit has worked in several makeshift clinics to assist patients who have no access to dental care, who had been in pain for quite some time. Everyone on this planet deserves to be without pain regardless of their life situation.
Ghana, West Africa
Dr. Adsit first organized a dental outreach mission to Ghana in West Africa during his senior year at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2005. He returned to Ghana in 2006 and 2008. Each trip to Ghana was approximately 10 days in duration. Dr. Adsit has treated hundreds of patients in the most impoverished and remote sections of Ghana. Many of these patients were treated for tooth-related infections. In 2008, Dr. Adsit implemented a fluoride rinse program to approximately 1,000 school children, which will go a long way in improving their dental health.
Honduras, Central America 2006
Under the direction of the Highland Hospital Department of Family Medicine in Rochester, NY, Dr. Adsit went on a dental outreach mission to Honduras in the spring of 2006. Honduras is the second-poorest country in the western hemisphere. Dr. Adsit stayed in San Jose de San Marcos for 2 weeks providing dental care to local residents.
Guatemala, Central America 2004
In the spring of 2004, Dr. Adsit traveled to Patzún, Guatemala, with a group from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. During this one-week trip he was able to help bring dental treatment to several people in the Mayan Indian community. This was Dr. Adsit's first trip to a developing nation, and it was an eye- opening experience that encouraged him to continue using his skills and expertise to help those less fortunate.
